Rosh Hashanah at Chabad School: We Ended 5786 Brightly and Sweetly

In Jewish tradition, Rosh Hashanah is more than simply the beginning of a new year. It is a time to pause for a moment, look back on the year that has passed, and think about what we want to carry with us into the next one. The good deeds we have done, the relationships we have built, the choices we have made, and what we can do even better in the year ahead.

That is why this holiday is so meaningful. Children understand traditions not only when they hear about them, but when they are able to experience them for themselves.

Honey has a special symbolic meaning during Rosh Hashanah. Apples are dipped in honey as a wish for a sweet new year. For us, that wish became very real: the honey biscuits the children baked with their own hands will be enjoyed in the new year, 5787.

May the new year 5787 bring our children, families, teachers, and the entire school community health, peace, many good deeds, and as many reasons as possible to be together.

Shana Tova Umetuka. May the new year be good and sweet.
